Ealing Wildlife Group Photography Exhibition

‘The aim of our annual wildlife photography competition is to showcase our natural, wild spaces, celebrating the important relationships between people and local wildlife in the Borough of Ealing through an outdoor exhibition of photography.

We want to explore what nature and wildlife means to you. Everyone sees their surroundings through a different lens, so we wish to celebrate individual relationships with nature. This is not purely a technical photography exhibition. Equally, if not more important is the portrayal of images that will engage the public with the natural world at a local level in Ealing.

Winning entries will be displayed in a public exhibition in Walpole Park in October and November 2018, and images may be used by Ealing Wildlife Group to promote local biodiversity and wildlife conservation.’

Ealing Wildlife Group is a community of wildlife enthusiasts dedicated to protecting, encouraging & celebrating local biodiversity in Ealing.

Hear of Winter

Christmas is coming and Sally can't sleep – it's far too hot! The weather has gone topsy-turvy. No-one can remember the last time it snowed, or even rained, and her father can't sell any of his umbrellas. To help her sleep Dad reads her a story about the last snowflake.

That night Sally has a dream that changes everything – a mysterious silver spark transforms her bedroom into a glistening, white field where she meets the glowing heart of Winter.

Watermans welcomes back Lyngo Theatre, who brought you the playfully comic Snow Play in 2016. Heart of Winter is their magical new musical show which warmly celebrates family, friendship and the good fortune of finding the winter we really need and want…with the precious festive offering of lots of fluffy snow!

Find your joyful heart of winter at Watermans this Christmas!

Halloween Pumpkin Trail at Northfield Allotments

Halloween Pumpkin Trail at Northfield Allotments

Something wicked this way comes at Halloween to London’s oldest allotments

As autumn nights draw in and darkness descends, plotholders at Northfields Allotments in West Ealing are set to host the historic site’s third annual Halloween Pumpkin Trail.

On Saturday 27th October between 3pm and 7pm, plotholders will invite the local community to join them as London’s oldest allotments play host to phantoms, ghosts, zombies and witches, all eerily lit with Jack-O’-Lanterns.

Ghoulish treats on the day will be accompanied by a barbecue, a bar serving beer and mulled wine, and tea and cakes.

Those wishing to get into the spirit – beware the spirits – are encouraged to don their spookiest Halloween outfit to add to the supernatural atmosphere. And don’t forget to bring a torch – who knows what lurks in the bushes.

Entry is FREE, although donations are welcome. Onsite stalls will accept cash only.

Access to the site will be through the main gates towards the north end of Northfield Avenue (opposite Dean Court). Visitors will also be able to join the trail via the south gate at Occupation Road or via Mattock Lane where the trail runs down Radbourne Walk to the east of the site.

Since the trail is narrow, visitors are requested where possible to leave pushchairs at home, however there will be a buggy park in the middle of the site, accessible through the main gates.

Dogs are welcome if kept on a lead.

Northfields Allotment is London’s oldest surviving allotment site, established in 1832. It now faces the threat of development. Please help save this invaluable community hub and historic site by signing and sharing this petition.

On Halloween itself it’s our traditional family day; bring the kids in after they have been trick or treating for some game & activities & see if they can brave our hall of horror for some extra sweets (parents will know there’s nothing scarier then a child on sugar!)
